The reprogrammed Easyrent online reservation system has been available since October. Around 50 users have already integrated it in their home pages and are benefiting from trend-setting inputs.
WINTERSTEIGER is very pleased to have won a major order in Turkey. A brand-new five-star hotel run by the XANADU group opened its doors on 11.11.2011 in the Palandöken ski resort in the province of Erzurum.
The Swiss Ski Association Swiss-Ski responded to the results at the Nordic World Championship in Oslo by investing in materials. In future, the Swiss will use the Race NC race service stone grinding machine in the Nordic disciplines of cross-country skiing and ski jumping. It will be integrated in a mobile workshop in a specially equipped truck which provides support at competitions in Europe. Hippolyt Kempf, Head of the Nordic Combined Discipline, said at a media conference, "Compared to the unit that was available to us previously, this will be like switching from a Mini Cooper to a Rolls-Royce."

The Swiss ski manufacturer Stöckli recently invested in the Trimjet automatic edge grinding machine. This well-known company has acquired it to cope with the constantly rising demand for racing skis for upcoming young skiers. Stöckli plans to use the Trimjet to prepare around 1500 pairs of racing skis a year so that they are ready for students, juniors and FIS C-squad members to race on.
Two strong brands to join forces in future.
Ried/Liezen. While many companies are still travelling with the handbrake slightly on, Wintersteiger AG from Ried im Innkreis is focusing on expansion. As of the end of April 2011, the Austrian company will acquire the majority share of BootDoc Handels GmbH from Liezen. The well-known company from Styria is a respected specialist producing footbeds for sports and all day use, analysis systems, compression stockings and foam liners and in the business year just past achieved sales of some EUR 1.7 million.

"Planet Planai", a multi-functional valley station, was opened on 26 November 2010 after only 220 days of construction. Two well-known sports shops are behind Intersport Planai: the Bründl Group and Intersport Bachler. At the heart of "Planet Planai" is a one-stop shop where guests can find everything a lover of winter sports could desire - be it ski ticket, ski school or ski rental. Just as with the rest of the project, the retail shop, rental area and workshop were also designed to meet maximum standards in respect of function and visual quality.
Five top sports shops in Switzerland have parted with their old machines and switched to automated WINTERSTEIGER machines: Cesar Sport (Saas Fee), Derby Sport (Bettmeralp), Slalom Sport (Zermatt) and Stäger Sport (Mürren) have decided on a Discovery. The team from Thomi Sport (Ried-Brig) is now working on a Microjet Disc.
A study commissioned by the Austrian Ski Federation has recently uncovered the alarming fact that 40 percent of ski bindings fail to meet currently applicable safety requirements. The release values for the ski bindings of skiers in a Tyrolean skiing area were checked during the 2009/10 winter season. Only about a third of the winter sports fans surveyed said that they had their bindings checked once a year. It is important to note in connection with this that the sports goods retailer accepts responsibility for optimum adjustment of each item of sports equipment every time it sells or rents out skiing gear. More and more often, identifiable errors and defects are leading to what are sometimes extremely high compensation claims and fines.

Machine Constructor Among Top Six in Product Design
On October 22 the Austrian National Prize for "Design 2009" was awarded for the 38th time in the Museum Quarter, Vienna. In front of several hundred guests, State Secretary Christine Marek recognised Austria's creative industries for their services. The Austrian National Prize 2009 is awarded in a total of three different categories. WINTERSTEIGER was nominated in the category "Product Design of Investment Goods" and thus achieved a place among the top six.
Ried/I. 80 sports dealers from Austria, Germany and South Tyrol took up the invitation to the 7th Wintersteiger Golf Trophy on 25 September 2009 in the beautiful Kobernausserwald. The golfers were able to demonstrate their ability under perfect weather conditions - along with fame and glory there were also valuable prizes to be won.
Ried. The Bründl Group, a leading partner in the winter sports segment, has decided in favour of the Easyrent rental and POS management software by Wintersteiger AG. The Bründl Group (www.bruendl.at) includes 16 locations in prominent winter sports hotspots such as Kaprun, Zell am See, Ischgl and Mayrhofen and is a consistent trend-setter in the specialist sports trade and hire business. Wintersteiger's Easyrent system will be set up on over 120 of the Bründl Group's 20 workstations. Installation will take place in two stages: By the end of this year, the branch in Mayrhofen will be switched over to Easyrent and the Bründl branches in Kaprun, Zell am See and Ischgl will follow in 2010. In addition to this, Wintersteiger's Easystore system, which includes rental, depot and drying units, will be used in future at the Intersport Hausberger location in Mayrhofen.
Ried. The second Service and Rental Trade Fair took place from 24 - 26 August at Wintersteiger's headquarters in Ried. The market leader showcased its entire product range for ski service and rental on an exhibition area covering 500 m2. Just under 200 dealers from Austria, Germany, Italy and Switzerland caught up on product innovations and had the opportunity to follow the live manufacture of products from development and production to assembly during a tour of the company.
