Wintersteiger Launches into Future with Successful Innovations

Hanover/Ried. Lots of visitors, satisfied customers and the thinnest kerf in the timber industry. Wintersteiger, the special machine constructor from Ried in Austria, impressed the crowds with a flair for trends and a strong focus on service at the LIGNA timber processing fair in Hanover from 18 to 22 May. The complete range of thin-cutting machines and saws from in-house development and production was presented to the interested audience of trade visitors.

The new thin-cutting band saw "DSB Singlehead", which scores points for its precise block guidance for dry and wet cutting, flexible saw band guidance and maximum profitability, caused quite a stir. According to Franz Haas, head of the Woodtech Division at Wintersteiger, "In this case, the enormous flexibility, cutting widths up to 930 mm and the thin kerf of 1.1 mm were crucial success factors. The "DSB Singlehead" aroused a great deal of audience interest - many customers decided straight away to buy Wintersteiger's quality saw on the spot.

Wintersteiger was able to demonstrate its flair for the market's requirement yet again with the "DSG Sonic", a thin-cutting frame saw with ultra-thin saw blades. It is possible with the latest thin-cutting saw blades from in-house development and production to achieve kerfs only
0.7 mm wide. As a result, it is possible to saw 6 instead of 5 lamellas from conventional saw blocks. In practice this corresponds to a timber saving of around 20 percent. Franz Haas, "This machine combines maximum timber yield and hence profitability with a perfect surface and joining edge." The Wintersteiger company is the world's only supplier of kerfs from
0.7 mm.

What's more, at Wintersteiger the customer obtains thin-cutting machines, thin-cutting saws plus integration and automation from a single source. It is possible to deal with customer-specific requests quickly and professionally using "Systems", the in-house project management program.

Constant expansion of the global sales and service structure underlines the huge significance of the Customer Service and After Sales Service departments within the company. Nowadays, the sales and service organisation covers virtually all the markets which enables fast, uncomplicated and cost-effective access to Wintersteiger's expertise. Franz Haas summarised the time at at the world fair for timber processing like this, "Satisfied customers are the basis for enduring success. In this sense, LIGNA in Hanover was very successful for us."
