On the road with solar energy – New photovoltaic system and electric cars at WINTERSTEIGER

WINTERSTEIGER AG relies on its own green electricity and invested in a photovoltaic system in the spring: seven of the company's roofs were equipped with 2,300 m2 of photovoltaic modules, with a total output of 300 kWp (kilowatt peak). To put this into perspective: a detached house requires around 5 kWp, so WINTERSTEIGER could supply the equivalent of 60 detached homes with environmentally friendly electricity!

In parallel to the PV system, WINTERSTEIGER purchased two VW ID.3 electric cars, which make ideal use of the climate-friendly electricity. The two company cars with 58 kWh battery capacity and a range of approx. 400 km are used for trips within the town of Ried, to the logistics center in St. Martin, and for customer visits. For Elisabeth Kriechbaumer, Head of Human Resources and responsible for fleet management, investing in environmentally friendly e-mobility is a forward-looking decision: “We want to expand our vehicle fleet in a modern and sustainable way.” At weekends, WINTERSTEIGER makes the electric cars available to the workforce free of charge. “My colleagues are already discussing the driving experience, vehicle ranges, and more, and are looking forward to trying out e-mobility. We are offering them this great experience and I'm sure that this company benefit will be put to good use in the future,” says Elisabeth Kriechbaumer.
