The first major order: 165 plot combines roll off the assembly line

A major success was celebrated in 1975: WINTERSTEIGER won an order for more than 165 plot combines of the Seedmaster Universal type. Within just two years, the machines were produced and delivered to Russia, or the USSR, as it was then.

This first major order was the biggest leap forward in the history of the young company. First an assembly line was set up to assemble the combine, with 20 employees assigned to the "Russian job". In the past, the machines were produced in small teams. The finished combines were driven in convey, with a police escort, to Ried railroad station for loading.

The Seedmaster Universal was very successful. Altogether, WINTERSTEIGER produced 500 combines of this type over a period of 15 years. To put this into perspective, WINTERSTEIGER currently produces approximately 150 plot combines per year, in three different models. The flow production method remains and the combine is assembled in 8 steps.
