In the Pro Juventute "Haus Sonne" in Mettmach, animals make a contribution to ensuring that the children and young people experience a regular everyday life: Cats, chickens and three horses have to be looked after daily and give them a lot of joy and security back. WINTERSTEIGER AG supports the living group with a donation of 5,000 euros.

12 children and young people aged between 10 and 16 are currently housed in Haus Sonne because they can no longer live temporarily or permanently in their family of origin. A special feature of the living group is its own horse keeping. Manager Esther Gerersdorfer explains: "The children learn to take responsibility and at the same time experience a feeling of security through daily feeding, care and cleaning out the stable. The horses have a positive influence on personality development. Characteristics such as empathy, patience and endurance are strengthened. The aim is for our children to be able to cope independently later as adults".

Instead of distributing customer gifts at Christmas, the international machinery and plant engineering group WINTERSTEIGER, based in Ried, supports social institutions in the region every year.
