International cooperation to develop machinery for seed companies

In October, Austrian machinery and plant engineering group WINTERSTEIGER AG and the French FLDI group, a manufacturer of special machines for agriculture, are furthering their cooperation.

FLDI (François Lapeyre Developpement Industriel) has already been a partner of WINTERSTEIGER for 10 years. The company, which is based 60 km south of Toulouse, assists WINTERSTEIGER’s SEEDMECH division with customer support, as well as servicing and certification of machines. This partnership is now being consolidated and expanded.

Shared activities in the area of service, sales, and engineering.

In addition to WINTERSTEIGER’s extended service network in France, FLDI will also oversee machine maintenance in the future. The aim of this is to raise the level of service in France even higher. Seed research machines from FLDI are also being added to WINTERSTEIGER’s portfolio. There is also scope for the two companies to develop new products together, tailored to the needs of the market. For decades, FLDI has been developing all sorts of special machines for agriculture, including a harvester for onion seeds, which is sold on five continents. This extensive expertise and WINTERSTEIGER’s worldwide sales network produces the perfect synergy.

Christopher Schiehauer, CEO of the SEEDMECH division explains: “FLDI’s site, which is surrounded by sunflower and cereal fields and is in close proximity to many of our customers, is predestined for closer collaboration. We are delighted with this decision and I am convinced that both sides will benefit hugely from working with each other.”

François Lapeyre, General Director of the FLDI group, explains: “For 10 years, we have seen the seed business grow in our company. With this in mind, it made sense to enhance our partnership with WINTERSTEIGER. Thanks to our agility and our technical background in the area of certified seeds and WINTERSTEIGER’s international orientation, we are able to expand the range of machines available to our customers. We are very happy with this collaboration.”
