Thin-cutting of wood as the technological foundation

The origin of WINTERSTEIGER Solutions lies in a technology that still forms the foundation of our company today: the thin-cutting of wood.

WINTERSTEIGER developed the first thin-cutting frame saw back in 1970, thereby setting new standards in industrial wood processing. The aim of this technology was to use wood as efficiently as possible and minimize material loss through extremely narrow kerfs.

A process of continuous further development helped to produce a technology that sets a global benchmark.

Development of a wood thin-cutting frame saw for making ski cores

1990–1999

DSG 200 thin-cutting frame saw introduced to the market

Further development of the DSG 150 thin-cutting frame saw for producing engineered flooring and pencils

1991

Founding of the Division Engineering. The thin-cutting system was upgraded for high-quality wood cuts

2000–2009

Start of production of carbide-tipped saw blades for thin-cutting systems

Acquisition of BANHOLZER GmbH, Germany
