WINTERSTEIGER AG takes over Paul Ernst Maschinenfabrik

The Ried company WINTERSTEIGER AG, special machine builder for ski service, thin-cutting of wood and field research equipment, will take over Paul Ernst Maschinenfabrik GmbH in Eschelbronn, Germany, from 1st January 2015.

Paul Ernst Maschinenfabrik GmbH produces machines for automatic deburring of sheet metal, and is the technology leader in this sector. In 2013, 45 employees generated a turnover of almost €7 mil. WINTERSTEIGER already obtained a mainstay in the area of metalworking in 2011, with the purchase of the German company KOHLER Maschinenbau GmbH. KOHLER develops high quality strip and part levelling machines for customers in e.g. the automotive, electronics or household appliances industry.

WINTERSTEIGER CFO Harold Kostka, who is responsible for acquisitions, on the successful group expansion: "The Paul Ernst Maschinenfabrik is an excellent addition to our range in metalworking. After cutting the metal sheets must be deburred before they go into the levelling machine. KOHLER and Ernst already have customers in common today."

This intersection will grow in future, because WINTERSTEIGER will generate further synergies with Ernst. Also in terms of internationalisation, Ernst will benefit from WINTERSTEIGER, as the Ried company already operates in the markets of China and the USA with KOHLER. Paul Ernst Maschinenfabrik will be continued and expanded as an independent company in the WINTERSTEIGER group.
