With sky-high inflation continuing to place household budgets under strain, WINTERSTEIGER AG paid a EUR 500 bonus to every single one of its employees in Austria in January. In a unanimous decision, the members of the management team of the global mechanical and plant engineering firm opted to donate their bonus to the local social supermarket, "G'schäftl", on Bahnhofstrasse in Ried.

“Despite all the economic turbulence, WINTERSTEIGER performed well in 2022 and the bonus payment was our way of saying ‘thank you’ to all our colleagues who contributed to the company’s success,” says CEO Florestan von Boxberg. “We in the management team also felt it important to show our solidarity with people who are suffering the most from the inflation-driven increase in prices.”

Christoph Wiesner, head of the Ried Social Association, a local charity helping people in need, is extremely grateful for the urgently needed support: “This donation will help us enormously over the coming months. We buy 8,000 euros worth of products every month, which we sell at heavily discounted prices to our ‘customers’. Last year, demand for our services increased by roughly 50 %, and not just due to the war in Ukraine.”
