Since the HTL Ried, a technical upper-level secondary school, was founded in 2002, the WINTERSTEIGER machine and plant engineering group has been an important supporter, which describes itself as "the innovative HTL for mechanical engineering". At a recent meeting, the HTL management team led by Director Wolfgang Billinger and the WINTERSTEIGER management team, led by CTO Thomas Fürkötter, looked back on their joint successes and agreed to continue working closely together.
"The HTL Ried is a hotbed of innovation in our immediate vicinity, from which WINTERSTEIGER and the entire region can only benefit. The young talents here are always impressive with their drive, curiosity and creative ideas. It is precisely this spirit of discovery that we want to continue to promote," says Thomas Fürkötter, CTO of WINTERSTEIGER Holding AG.
In the last three years, WINTERSTEIGER has supported 12 high school graduates with their diploma thesis and enabled almost 20 high school students to complete an internship in Ried. In addition, every year WINTERSTEIGER sponsors internships including flights and accommodation at its British subsidiary TRIALS Equipment - a unique opportunity for young people to gain international experience. In 2024, two students from HTL Ried won the application process and can now look forward to an exciting summer in the south of England.

Since 2012, WINTERSTEIGER has donated raw materials with a total value of over 64,000 euros to the HTL. In addition, the company regularly makes machines available for teaching or events, most recently a band saw as part of the “HTL Forestry Days”.
The meeting was not only about the past cooperation, but also about the future: "The coming school year will see the launch of our new educational focus on robotics and smart engineering, which is unique in Upper Austria," reports HTL Director Wolfgang Billinger. "We are delighted to have WINTERSTEIGER at our side as an experienced and forward-looking partner on our way into the world of digital mechanical engineering. This enables us to prepare our students for the demands of tomorrow's industry at an early stage.
