WINTERSTEIGER donates 5,000 euros to Volkshilfe GSD Ried

Every year at Christmas, WINTERSTEIGER supports a local social institution with a cash donation. This year, the money will go to the "Löwenzahn" children's and youth center run by Volkshilfe GSD Ried, which is a close neighbor of the WINTERSTEIGER Group's global head office.

 

This donation will be used for projects as part of the "active socio-educational afternoon care" scheme, explains Matthias Schlüsselbauer, head of the Löwenzahn children's and youth club. “It is important to us to create experiences for the children and young people that go beyond the normal afternoon care program,” he continues. This can include group excursions or additional learning support. However, the organization is dependent on donations from third parties for such activities. “The donation from WINTERSTEIGER gives us the financial leeway we need,” says Schlüsselbauer happily.

 

WINTERSTEIGER CEO Harold Kostka explains: “Especially at Christmas time, we realize how important it is to give joy and opportunities to others. With our support for the Volkshilfe GSD Ried's Löwenzahn project, we want to enable the children and young people cared for here to have experiences that many of us take for granted – and thus give them a bit of laughter and happiness. As the biggest company in Ried, and one which is firmly rooted in our local region, we see it as our responsibility to support such initiatives.”

 

Löwenzahn is a service for children and young people with special care needs. The children, aged between 6 and 16, come to the Löwenzahn after school and are looked after by a team of five Volkshilfe GSD Ried employees. They eat together, do their homework, and can play or enjoy arts and crafts. The 30 places are allocated by the child services department of Ried im Innkreis council and are currently fully occupied; there is still a great need for additional places.
