By taking on a new class sponsorship, WINTERSTEIGER is strengthening its collaboration with HTL Ried while clearly demonstrating its commitment to practical technical education in the region.
Talent development with a strong practical focus: Machinery and plant engineer WINTERSTEIGER has once again taken on the sponsorship of a class at HTL Ried Technical College. For two years, we will support the 21 students (currently in their third year) and provide them with insights into modern industrial processes. The fact that this is a class focused exclusively on agricultural technology makes the sponsorship all the more valuable, as this field is closely linked to WINTERSTEIGER’s technologies and markets.
“WINTERSTEIGER is an established specialist in field trial technology. The sponsorship thus builds directly on the subject area our students are being trained in and provides hands-on access to technologies that will later play a key role in their professional lives,” confirm Acting Director DI Karl Angleitner and Class Teacher DI Johann Scherrer from HTL Ried.

The partnership will allow the students to explore all of WINTERSTEIGER’s business fields in Ried through January 2028, not just field trial technology. For example, they’ll get to have their skis grinded on a fully automated service machine, perform design exercises using virtual reality in woodworking, and even receive training on a mobile sawmill from the company’s subsidiary Serra in Rimsting, Bavaria, as part of the HTL’s Forestry Technology Week. Of course, digital solutions and modern manufacturing processes are also on the agenda: “We want to inspire young people with technology and show them how versatile and hands-on today’s industry is,” emphasizes Michael Glechner, Head of the Central Mechanical Engineering Department at WINTERSTEIGER and responsible for implementing the sponsorship. Soft skills training is also part of the program, such as job application coaching to help students prepare for the transition from school to work.
WINTERSTEIGER has supported HTL Ried since its founding in 2002 – whether through donating equipment or offering internships and thesis projects – and is now sponsoring an HTL class for the third time. First-year students also regularly use the company’s modern training workshop for practical assignments.
