Driven by a pioneering spirit
Born of conviction
It all began in 1953 in an old blacksmith’s shop in Obernberg am Inn, Upper Austria. One of the starting points was designing simple agricultural machinery for plant breeding. One clear goal emerged early on: to develop technologies that solve specific problems and create real added value. Guided by this philosophy, a group of companies gradually emerged that today is active all around the world. What has remained from those days is the original vision: we don’t just build machines. We create solutions that arise from real-world needs. What has changed is the scale: today, WINTERSTEIGER operates in over 130 countries and combines Austrian roots with an international perspective.
Understanding markets, shaping the future
WINTERSTEIGER is known for highly specialized solutions in technologically demanding niche markets. These include, among others, the fields of ski service, field trial technology, wood and materials processing, and leveling technology. In many of these areas, we’ve earned a leading global position and are actively shaping the development of our markets.
A strong community
Our approximately 1,200 employees are experts in their respective disciplines and share their know-how every day to improve and develop our solutions. Everything revolves around teamwork: collaboration across departments, locations, and countries is a daily reality. Trust, accountability, and a commitment to finding the best solution jointly define how we work together – from apprentices to management.
The systematic training of young professionals – including through a substantial apprenticeship program at our Ried site – is an essential component of our company’s long-term strategy.

WINTERSTEIGER Holding AG serves as the strategic framework for the group of companies. It manages the operating companies, defines the overarching strategic direction, and provides the organizational structures necessary for sustainable growth. In addition to corporate management, corporate key functions such as Human Resources, Finance, IT, and Marketing are centralized at the Ried site. At the same time, the individual business fields and companies operate independently in their respective markets, driving innovation and growth there. This structure combines entrepreneurial freedom with clear strategic leadership – a key factor for success in a dynamic international environment.
