Fully automated bike washing – that's the mission for our Velobrush. It's a clear-cut goal that sounds relatively simple. But a lot of thought has gone into how the washing process can be automated to offer cyclists the best possible user experience. Together with the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien, we are currently conducting a field trial to find out how we can improve this experience even more and make it easier for users to operate the Velobrush.

A Velobrush is located right in front of the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien in Vienna's 20th district and is freely available to anyone who wants to wash their bike at no cost. All they need for this is the Juhuu app, which was developed by students at the university as an easy way to communicate processes via smartphone. Washing instructions for the Velobrush are ideally suited to this. The user is provided with a step-by-step explanation of what they need to do to use the Velobrush correctly. After scanning the QR code on the Velobrush with the app, the user is guided through the instructions.

A video camera records the system being used to gather insights into possible improvements that can be made in the operation of the Velobrush. The video and use of the app are then evaluated. The resulting insights can be directly incorporated in the ongoing development of our Velobrush. Testing will continue until the middle of December.
