Welcome Aboard: Banholzer Saw Blade Factory Joins WINTERSTEIGER

As early as 1998, the Banholzer company from Arnstadt, near Thuringia, began supplying WINTERSTEIGER with saw blades for its thin-cut frame saws. The business relationship was very successful, and WINTERSTEIGER became Banholzer’s largest customer. When owner Werner Banholzer retired from the business in 2004, WINTERSTEIGER seized the opportunity and purchased the saw blade factory.

New facility built in 2005; WINTERSTEIGER Sägen GmbH established in 2006

Just one year after the acquisition, construction began and the company relocated: On a 22,000 m² lot in the Arnstadt Nord industrial park, a new building with 5,000 m² of production and office space was erected, increasing the production area by 50%. In 2006, the company Banholzer was renamed WINTERSTEIGER Sägen GmbH.

Continuous Growth

In 2018, the production facility was expanded to 7,000 m², and in 2019, Matthias Hengelhaupt handed over the role of managing director to his son, Stefan Hengelhaupt.

WINTERSTEIGER Sägen GmbH manufactures band saw blades for WINTERSTEIGER’s thin-cutting and frame saws. The product range also includes saws for woodworking, narrow-band saws, resaw and log band saws, as well as metal saws and food saws.

WINTERSTEIGER Sägen GmbH is one of the largest and most modern saw blade manufacturers in Europe and strives for market leadership through continuous further development and product optimization: Offering saw blades and sawing machines from a single source is a key differentiator for WINTERSTEIGER in the wood thin-cutting industry.
