The 4th Division: KOHLER will take care of it!

Since 2011, KOHLER Maschinenbau GmbH in Lahr, Germany, has been part of WINTERSTEIGER. KOHLER manufactures leveling technology plants and is integrated into the WINTERSTEIGER Group as the Metals Division.

The company was founded in 1963 by Dipl.-Ing. Franz Kohler and his wife, Waltraud Kohler. KOHLER originally developed and manufactured gearboxes. In 1969, Franz Kohler introduced the first leveling machine for stamped parts. In the years that followed, KOHLER evolved into a leading manufacturer of leveling machines for the sheet metal processing industry. Since its founding, the company has manufactured more than 6,000 machines for customers in the automotive, electronics, metal, and household appliance industries, among others.

Expansion and Internationalization

In 2014, KOHLER moved into its newly constructed corporate headquarters in Lahr. With new patents—such as a hydraulics-free electromechanical leveling gap control system and the development of a servomotor-driven reel mandrel spreading mechanism—KOHLER is internationally recognized as a leader in leveling technology and peripheral equipment.

As part of the WINTERSTEIGER Group, KOHLER made the leap into the U.S. and Asia.
