In Development: Product Line for Seed Breeding

From 1975 to 1981, the Seedmech Division developed four main product lines for seed breeding, including the Nursery Master 1300 plot combine in 1976. This combine was characterized by its particularly lightweight construction. With approximately 1,000 machines sold, the Nursery Master enjoyed great success for 10 years.

Another milestone was the development of a plot drill seeder. Until then, WINTERSTEIGER had no sowing system for plot drilling, only a single-row sowing system. Starting in 1975, the “Oyjord Plot Drill” was therefore manufactured under license from Egil Oyjord of Oslo. At the same time, the Plot Spider was developed for precision spaced planting. The Plotmaster product line—featuring a tool carrier, corn cob harvester, and corn and forage chopper—was also developed during this period.

In 1975, WINTERSTEIGER employed 80 people; Seedmech and Sports were roughly the same size in the early 1980s.
