Division Sports: A Breakthrough to Becoming the World Market Leader!

In the early 1980s, getting started in the ski service industry was difficult; the first multipurpose flat-bed belt grinding machine, the MPS, was followed by the first grinding stone belt grinding machine, the TSMS-A. Another milestone that caused quite a stir was the introduction of the first base fusing machines.

However, Sports’ breakthrough came in 1985 with the MCR stone grinding machines: 150 were planned—but 400 were sold in the very first year! One reason for this sensational success was the affordable price of this high-quality machine, which was set with the goal of achieving market penetration. In 1989, the Micro Series stone grinding machines followed, distinguished by their modular and space-saving design. The Micro Series machines made it possible to produce the first reproducible structures. With this, WINTERSTEIGER made the leap to becoming the world market leader in ski service.
