WINTERSTEIGER Apprentices on the Road
In February and March, our first- and second-year apprentices packed their bags and attended two exciting off-site seminars.
Health & Resource Management
Learning together, eating together, and getting to know each other better were the focus of the “Health & Resource Management” seminar. First-year apprentices attended a health seminar from February 19 to 20 at the Seminarhof Schleglberg in Rottenbach.
A particular challenge was the UKK Walk Test, a fitness and endurance test in which the apprentices covered 2 km as quickly as possible at a steady pace. They had to keep an eye on their heart rate throughout. They also completed a HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) session.
Other seminar topics:
- Health checkups with personalized exercise recommendations
- Gender stereotypes and prejudices
- Diversity & Equality Nutrition
- (sugar quiz and food pyramid)
Communication, Conflict Management & Presentation
To ensure they are fully prepared for their major project in their final year of training, WINTERSTEIGER apprentices begin training as early as their second year: From March 25 to 26, they attended a workshop at the Youth Hostel in Linz to learn the skills needed for successful project collaboration. A special highlight was the graffiti crash course at the Linz Harbor, which included a guide through Mural Harbor, Europe’s largest graffiti and muralism gallery: More than 300 graffiti pieces—some of them oversized—by artists from 30 countries adorn the facades of old industrial buildings and house walls.
Additional seminar topics:
- Verbal & nonverbal communication
- Active listening
- Media literacy
- Conflict Resolution Made Easy
