WINTERSTEIGER Invests in High-Tech and the Environment: 15 Million Euros for Innovation and Social Responsibility
With a clear vision for the future, WINTERSTEIGER is investing in the expansion of its Ried site. From smart construction projects to high-tech manufacturing facilities and renewable energy—the machinery manufacturer combines technological excellence with environmental responsibility.
With a total investment of 15 million euros, WINTERSTEIGER is making a strong commitment to the further development of its Ried site and is focusing on a sustainable and modern approach. Since 2020, comprehensive measures have been taken not only to bring the site up to the latest technological standards but also to make it a pioneer in environmental sustainability. This demonstrates that WINTERSTEIGER is ready for the future and offers its employees long-term prospects in an innovative environment.
“Our goal is to develop the site intelligently and sustainably without having to resort to additional space,” explains Benjamin Hochholzer, Head of Facility & Service. To that end, WINTERSTEIGER is adopting a vertical construction approach for the new warehouse expansion: A modern, automated small-parts warehouse spanning 800 m² is being built above an existing production hall; at 16 meters high, it not only provides space for up to 50,000 different parts but also avoids land sealing. “Thanks to this smart planning, we’re not using any additional space while simultaneously increasing our efficiency,” emphasizes Hochholzer. The total investment for this project amounts to 4.5 million euros, and completion is already scheduled for 2025.
The latest highlight is already up and running: a state-of-the-art machining center for the production of workpieces, which went into operation this summer. 1.5 million euros were invested in the new technology, which enables the precise and efficient machining of components weighing up to 3 metric tons. Thanks to the newly installed glass facade, passersby and visitors can now witness firsthand how high-tech equipment is put to use at WINTERSTEIGER—a perfect blend of transparency and innovation.
“Our site remains at the heart of our international strategy—above all thanks to our dedicated and highly qualified employees,” emphasizes CEO Harold Kostka. “Their passion and expertise drive us forward, which is why we continue to invest in the site and its people to secure our competitiveness and actively shape the years ahead.”
WINTERSTEIGER is making a conscious commitment to sustainability: With the installation of photovoltaic systems with a capacity of 500 kWp and 20 electric vehicle loading stations for its growing fleet of electric cars, the company demonstrates that renewable energy and carbon-neutral mobility have long been part of its corporate strategy. “We are actively shaping the future—not only through technological innovations, but also through our responsibility toward the environment and society,” said Kostka.
