First Major Order: 165 plot combines roll off the belt

In 1975, the company celebrated a major success: WINTERSTEIGER received an order for 165 Seedmaster Universal plot combines. Within just two years, the machines were manufactured and delivered to Russia, then known as the USSR.

This first major order was the biggest leap forward in the history of the young company. An assembly line was set up specifically for the combines, and 20 employees were assigned to the “Russia order.” Previously, the machines had been manufactured by small teams. The finished combines were transported in a convoy, escorted by the gendarmerie, to the Ried train station for loading.

The Seedmaster Universal was very successful; over the course of 15 years, WINTERSTEIGER produced a total of 500 combines of this type.
