Girls Are Excited About Technology
On today’s Girl’s Day, six young women from the middle schools in Andorf, Mettmach, Ried, and St. Martin got a behind-the-scenes look at an industrial facility at WINTERSTEIGER in Ried.
In the modern “Smart Factory Lab”—WINTERSTEIGER’s training workshop—the girls first received an overview of the company and its diverse training opportunities. After a brief tour of the production facilities, they were then able to try their hand at the lathe, the milling machine, and electrical and soldering work to demonstrate their skills. They were accompanied by WINTERSTEIGER apprentices as well as apprentice trainer Christian Scharnböck, who organized this year’s Girls’ Day for the 15th time.
At the Ried site, WINTERSTEIGER trains approximately 60 apprentices in nine different apprenticeships. In addition to technical training, the apprenticeship program includes numerous supplementary offerings, such as seminars on health, communication, and personal development. Starting in the second year of training, it is possible to pursue an apprenticeship that leads to a high school diploma.
