Girls discover their passion for Technology

© WINTERSTEIGER

On today’s Girls’ Day, six young women from secondary schools in Andorf, Mettmach, Ried, and St. Martin came by to take a look behind the scenes of an industrial company.

First, the girls got an overview of the company and the many apprenticeship opportunities at the “Smart Factory Lab,” WINTERSTEIGER’s modern training workshop. After a short tour around the production facility, they got hands-on experience and demonstrated their skills on the lathe, the milling machine, and with electrical and soldering work. They were accompanied by WINTERSTEIGER apprentices and apprentice trainer Christian Scharnböck, who organized the Girls’ Day for the 15th time this year.

WINTERSTEIGER trains around 60 apprentices in nine different professions at its Ried site. Along with technical training, the apprenticeship program includes lots of extracurricular activities, such as seminars on health, communication, and personal development. A dual apprenticeship program is available starting in the second year.
