From 20 - 22.08.2024 we traveled to Trondheim, Norway, to present our drying cabinets at Nor-Fishing. With over 15,000 visitors, we had the opportunity to exchange ideas with existing customers and strategic partners as well as interested parties. 
We were able to view impressive fishing vessels from the inside and gain valuable insights into the needs of the fishing and shipbuilding industry. With this knowledge, we can tailor our product solutions even better to the requirements of our customers.

Hello Nor-Fishing!

Swedish-state owned electricity supplier Vattenfall – now one of Europe’s five largest electricity providers – has consistently embraced renewable energy sources in recent years. The company’s main markets are Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and the United Kingdom. The Group employs 21,000 people and now supplies over 5 million customers across the continent.

When designing the new German headquarters in Berlin, which opened in 2022, the team worked together with the architect to plan a dedicated area for employees who cycle to the office. Alongside having a place to park their bikes safely, the employees also wanted to be able to get changed, dry any clothes that got wet on the way to work, and neutralize any odors that could arise due to dampness. “A number of our employees were heavily involved in establishing and setting up the bike room. They looked into WINTERSTEIGER and found that the Austrian company’s range includes the perfect drying lockers to satisfy our high demands,” explains Andreas Dierkes, architect, construction and equipment project manager, and sustainability point of contact for Vattenfall offices around the world. 

“Back then, we opted for two WINTERSTEIGER condensation drying lockers including the ‘Econ Set 8 Premium Sterex’ unit and we’ve found that they have performed really well for us ever since. That’s why we have now ordered another condensation unit for our new building for 1,200 employees in the Elbbrückenquartier in Hamburg’s Hafencity. We’re very satisfied with the quality and efficiency of the dryers, both in terms of the drying process and the Sterex odor reduction. In my opinion, the number of cyclists will continue to increase at both subsidiaries, because it makes ecological and economic sense to cycle in big cities like Berlin and Hamburg. We will expand our bike rooms as and when required, and provide sufficient capacity for drying and odor-neutralizing clothing,” concludes Dierkes.

Humidity replaced by a breath of fresh air as Vattenfall supports commuters on their bikes

The Highlight Towers are a landmark of modern architecture in Munich. Extending to 126 meters and 113 meters in height, the twin office towers are situated at Münchner Tor between Mittlerer Ring and German motorway 9 in the district of Schwabing. Planned by Chicago architects Murphy/Jahn and completed in 2004, the complex houses 70,000 square meters of office space. The buildings’ best known tenants are Fujitsu, IBM, Strabag, and Tengelmann.

 
 “A bikers point was first set up in 2021 for employees at Fujitsu to give cyclists the opportunity to get changed as well as dry and deodorize clothing that got damp and sweaty while biking. To this end, an <a href="https://www.wintersteiger.com/dry-protect/en/products/hygienic-drying/econ/econ-jacket-16-premium/">Econ Jacket 16 Sterex</a> condensation drying locker from WINTERSTEIGER was purchased at the time,” says Thomas Verhoeven of SAUTER FM property management firm, who serves as the buildings’ facility manager. The bikers point has since been made available to all the other tenants as well as Fujitsu, which has meant a continual increase in the number of cyclists using the drying and deodorizing system from WINTERSTEIGER. “Our owner is now looking to purchase another WINTERSTEIGER drying locker so they can meet their tenants’ expectations and offer enthusiastic users ‘enough space’,” says Verhoeven.

Four days, countless discussions, and a clear vision for a safe working environment: the A&#43;A trade fair for occupational health and safety held from October 24-27, 2023, gave existing and potential customers the opportunity to speak with our passionate team. The response was truly overwhelming. Our goal for A&#43;A 2023 was to promote a better work environment and show how innovation and efficiency go hand-in-glove in the world of occupational health and safety. And we can now proudly announce: Mission Accomplished! In addition to the blow-out clothes hanger and our unmistakably high-quality dryers, the <a href="https://www.wintersteiger.com/dry-protect/en/products/technology/sterex">Sterex plasma technology</a> for disinfecting protective clothing aroused a great deal of interest. Our thanks to everyone who visited our stand.

Total success at the A and A trade fair in Düsseldorf

On November 8 and 9, 2023, the P &amp; A fair took place in Lillestrøm, just outside Oslo. This fair is an important event for the outdoor industry, including landscape architects, gardeners, farmers, cemetery services and the construction industry in general. However, visitors from the municipal sector and agricultural colleges were also represented. The trade fair attracted numerous interested parties, including potential buyers looking for innovative solutions. They were particularly impressed by our <a href="https://www.wintersteiger.com/dry-protect/en/products/hygienic-drying/econ/econ-set-8-premium">Econ Set 8 Sterex</a> dryer. This dryer was met with great interest and impressed visitors with its outstanding features and functions.

 
The P &amp; A trade fair was a great success for us and we look forward to strengthening the contacts we have made and making our solutions available to even more interested parties. The Econ Set 8 Sterex proved to be a real crowd puller and we are confident that it will convince even more companies and professionals of its benefits in the future.

The Fire &amp; Rescue took place on Tuesday, September 26 and Wednesday, September 27, 2023 near Gardermoen Airport in Oslo. Firefighters and emergency services teams from across Norway took part in the event. WINTERSTEIGER Dry &amp; Protect had more visitors and experienced greater interest in its solutions than in all previous years. Above all, we received confirmation that ozone in fire stations is a definite &#34;no&#34;, and that our switch to <a href="https://www.wintersteiger.com/dry-protect/en/products/technology/sterex">Sterex plasma technology</a> is highly valued as a sustainable solution for the future.

The WINTERSTEIGER <a href="https://www.wintersteiger.com/dry-protect/en/products/hygienic-drying/econ">Econ technology</a> with condensation drying and the Air Hangers enjoyed high praise. Happily, a number of sales were also secured at the trade fair.

Fire and Rescue 2023 – What a show!

Our Dry &amp; Protect Team was present at Austria’s largest trade fair for the emergency services in Wels from September 21 to 23, 2023. Our products <a href="https://www.wintersteiger.com/dry-protect/en/products/disinfection-odor-reduction/air-purifiers">Cubusan</a>, <a href="https://www.wintersteiger.com/dry-protect/en/products/hygienic-drying/econ/econ-universal">Econ Universal</a>, <a href="https://www.wintersteiger.com/dry-protect/en/products/hygienic-drying/tantum/tantum-set-4-premium">Tantum Set 4</a>, and <a href="https://www.wintersteiger.com/dry-protect/en/products/hygienic-drying/primus/primus-mask-15">Primus Mask 15</a> attracted the interest of many visitors from sectors such as the <a href="https://www.wintersteiger.com/dry-protect/en/industry-solutions/hygienic-drying/military-police-rescue-services-fire-department">fire department</a>, water rescue services, and the Red Cross. Our Econ dryer with <a href="https://www.wintersteiger.com/dry-protect/en/products/technology/greendry">Green Dry </a>condensation drying technology, our ozone-free disinfection featuring <a href="https://www.wintersteiger.com/dry-protect/en/products/technology/sterex">Sterex plasma technology</a>, and our internally ventilated “Air Hanger” clothes hanger were the focus of most attention and received positive feedback. The atmosphere throughout the three days at the trade fair was great, our stand was very well attended, and there was also plenty of opportunity for networking. “retter” was a great success for WINTERSTEIGER and we are already looking forward to attending in 2025.

WINTERSTEIGER drying and disinfection lockers deliver genuine added value to everyday life at work. Having dry workwear is essential for people who work in challenging climatic conditions and in physically demanding jobs. We spoke to Sabrina Kronberger, HR Manager at WEINBERGMAIER GmbH. WEINBERGMAIER employs 250 people in total and manufactures high-quality food products. The employees working on the production line wear their own work clothes. Some of them work under very harsh climatic conditions. This means that when it comes to workwear, a high level of comfort is vital for employee motivation. WINTERSTEIGER installed a total of 8 Tantum shoe dryers in the production area at WEINBERGMAIER.

 

Sabine, your employees in production have to wear work clothes as part of their day-to-day work. To what extent does your company value comfortable workwear?

As you rightly say, work clothes are a part of everyday work at our company. Employees wear them the whole time they are at work. Having work pants that don’t fit properly, a jacket that doesn’t keep you warm, or a T-shirt that gives off an unpleasant smell can really affect how you feel at work. And for those employees who spend much of the day in refrigerated and deep-freeze warehouses, having dry and, in our case, warm boots is obviously vital. Workwear, for us, is an integral part of our employer branding – we want to create a working environment in which everyone feels good.

 

Your company obviously attaches great importance to the well-being of its employees. I imagine that you also seek to maintain a high level of employee motivation with a variety of benefits. What else do you offer your employees besides the usual fruit basket to enhance their well-being at work?

Don’t get me wrong – so-called soft benefits like providing free fresh fruit play an important role in this context. They all contribute to a relaxed atmosphere during breaks, allowing us to switch off for a few minutes. However, I see the benefits directly linked to an employee’s actual work as being far more important. Things that make our work easier, that help us to focus on the task at hand.

The drying panels are a perfect example of this. Our employees wear their work boots every day. If they don’t feel comfortable in what they’re wearing, how will they be motivated to perform their tasks for an 8-hour shift? The drying panels give us the opportunity to offer our employees real added value in their day-to-day work.

 

Is this something that you highlight to applicants to show that you offer more here than most other companies?

We see it as a holistic package – we don’t want to base the well-being of our employees on one aspect. Some may prioritize flexible working hours, others may want their workplace to be easily accessible, and others may value working in a modern environment. We have received very positive feedback on the drying panels, particularly from our long-standing employees. Therefore, with the Tantum, we have not only invested in providing benefits for potential new employees, but above all for our existing staff, who really appreciate the quality of the working environment.

Taking employee motivation to the next level

Aqua Nor was this year held from August 22–24 in Trondheim, Norway. More than 23,000 people visited the world&#039;s largest trade fair for aquaculture technology over the three days. We were also in attendance with a Dry &amp; Protect booth. The products that generated the most interest were the Tantum Glove 12 Compact Sterex and the Econ Set 8 Premium Sterex. Although the show had been shortened from four to three days, we recorded just as many visitors to our booth as in 2022. Many thanks to the entire team for another successful event!

Dry & Protect in the far north

Fate has been particularly unkind to the Hofmann family. Their son Veit was born healthy and had a sheltered start to his childhood on a farm in Aspach with his four siblings. However, at 2.5 years old, Veit’s health problems began. As a result of bronchitis, he developed myocarditis. A daunting diagnosis followed: Veit was suffering from an irreversible enlargement of his heart as well as arrhythmias. His condition was so bad that he had to be put on a heart-lung machine. Meanwhile, he also suffered a stroke. A heart transplant was crucial, which he then received in Vienna. This was the start of a lengthy recovery process.

Since then, Veit has already received a lot of treatments and still requires intensive care. To avoid rejection of the new heart, his immune system is suppressed with drugs to this day. To help the now six-year-old and his family, the association “A Smile for Children” donated four Cubusan air purification cubes. After two years of homeschooling, these were placed in his siblings’ classrooms to minimize the risk of infection. Veit received the fifth air purifier from the Management Board of WINTERSTEIGER AG. “We currently use your device in our living/dining room and it makes us feel reassured. We’ve had positive feedback from the schools so far,” Michaela Hofmann is pleased to report. This Cubusan will then accompany Veit when he goes to school next year.

The Fire &amp; Rescue trade fair 2022 was yet another occasion to show fire fighters from all over the country our solutions for drying and disinfecting clothes, gloves, shoes, helmets and smoke diving masks.

We received many visits, both from satisfied customers who have already tested our solutions, and new customers who are planning the construction of new fire stations or are just going to upgrade to better solutions in existing changing rooms.

More than 12,000 visitors from over 50 countries attended the Nor-Fishing trade fair in Trondheim, Norway from 23 to 26 August, 2022. Many fishermen and women, shipyard representatives, interior designers, ship designers, and other buyers visited our stand. They were impressed by our solutions and the complete product range for drying and disinfecting workwear. Our highlight was the two new products specially developed for maritime needs: the Primus 2 xSet 1 Premium Sterex and the Tantum Variable 12 Glove compact Sterex glove dryer. We also received valuable feedback from existing customers in the coastal and sea fishing industry. This information will help us to produce even better products to meet the needs of the maritime sector.

85,000 visitors from 61 countries descended on the exhibition site in Hanover between June 20 and June 25, 2022. At INTERSCHUTZ, they learned about the future issues facing the industry such as the increasing importance of digitization and robotics in emergency response; drones, rescue and fire extinguishing robots; and systems for the real-time transmission and analysis of image, video, and deployment data. More than 1,300 exhibitors from 50&#43; countries took part in the fair and were impressed by the depth of expertise among the trade professionals attending.

 

WINTERSTEIGER was also in attendance with various drying lockers. Our DRYTECH team is grateful to have been part of the six action-packed days. The next INTERSCHUTZ will take place in Hanover again from June 1 to June 6, 2026.

The air purification cube from WINTERSTEIGER accompanied the athletes from the Austrian Ski Association as they traveled the world during the 2021/22 World Cup season, and provided germ-free and improved air during indoor training sessions. The air quality is of crucial importance, especially for performance diagnostic tests. And, of course, health was the top priority during preparations!

Our Cubusan air purification system was one of the stars of the highlight presentation at the ÖSFA in Salzburg, which shines a spotlight on particularly interesting and innovative products. Its effectiveness was certified by the renowned Fraunhofer Institute in the fall of 2021. Cubusan is also supporting Austrian Ski Association athletes around the world as part of the 2021/22 World Cup by ensuring improved and germ-free ambient air during indoor training sessions.

For Christmas, the Barmherzige Schwestern Hospital in Ried is receiving ten of WINTERSTEIGER’s own Cubusan devices for disinfecting indoor air. And staff at the hospital are also set to enjoy a sack of delicious treats, with a total value of 25,000 euros.

Our booth at the firefighting trade fair in Gardermoen from 28–29 September was extremely popular with firefighters looking to learn about the latest solutions for hygienically drying their firefighting equipment.

 

The trade fair visitors were fascinated by the innovative Sterex plasma technology, which works completely without ozone. This disinfection technology is gentle on material and harmless to health, thereby setting new standards in hygienic drying!

Cubusan - Active air disinfection from WINTERSTEIGER - wins bronze at innovation award!

Eliminating odors, reducing germs – these issues have been a core topic at Wintersteiger AG for many years, for example when it comes to the hygienic drying of work clothing or ski boots in ski rental stores. With the development of the Sterex plasma technology, Wintersteiger has succeeded in taking another big step forward: Sterex uses cold atmospheric plasma to eliminate up to 99.99 % of all viruses*, bacteria, and fungal spores from indoor air and on surfaces – including SARS-Cov-2 viruses and their mutations.An adult breathes an average of 12 to 18 times per minute. Every exhalation spreads aerosols, which may also contain viruses. Depending on the pathogens, these aerosols can remain in the air for several hours. The risk of infection therefore increases when several people are present indoors together. With the development of the Cubusan air disinfection device, the Wintersteiger Group has succeeded in greatly minimizing this risk. The new development works on the basis of Sterex technology and uses cold plasma to eliminate up to 99.99 % of all bacteria, fungal spores, and viruses – including SARS-Cov-2. A single one of these cubes, measuring just 19 x 19 x 19 cm, can clean up to 120 m3 of air. Thanks to its high effective power, the Cubusan is perfect for use in all rooms in which larger numbers of people gather together. The new development is far superior to the FFP2 face masks, which are effective for just a short period of time.Together with external research partners, Wintersteiger has succeeded in getting the Cubusan CP-120 air disinfection device ready for series production after a development period of just six months. The first 5,000 devices can be manufactured and delivered by the end of April 2021, after which capacity will be gradually ramped up to 10,000 to 15,000 units per month. The devices have been running at full capacity at Wintersteiger since November 2020. “We&#039;ve been using Cubusan in our meeting rooms for several months now,” says Daniel Steininger, General Manager of the Division Sports &amp; Hygiene at Wintersteiger. “Since then, we&#039;ve been able to conduct meetings without masks again, without a high risk of infection. The facts speak for themselves: we haven&#039;t had a single instance of coronavirus transmission at a meeting yet.”During the development process, Wintersteiger also turned to the renowned Center of Excellence for Technical Hygiene and Applied Microbiology in Malsfeld. The center&#039;s head and assessor Dr. Ulrich F. Schmelz led the investigations in the accredited &#34;Umwelthygiene Marburg&#34; laboratory. The laboratory is accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 for microbiological investigations and the investigation of pharmaceutical products and medical devices (DAkkS Berlin). This means that the laboratory has extremely high quality standards that are applicable worldwide, ensuring the validity of the results. Thanks to the speed with which the Cubusan eliminates aerogenic germs and due to the high degree of efficiency, the microbiocidal potency of the hydroxyl radicals is up to 100 times stronger than the filter performance of FFP2 masks.While conventional air circulation systems draw in the air in the room and filter and/or irradiate it with UV-C light depending on the system, the new air disinfection device from Wintersteiger eliminates the germs directly where they occur, continuously and evenly throughout the room. In doing so, the device takes nature as a role model and produces multiple mini summer storms, so to speak. The electrophysical technology is based on the action of hydroxyl radicals (OH). These molecules are produced in nature by water vapor in combination with sunlight – for example after a thunderstorm, when the first rays of sunlight burst through the clouds and the air is noticeably fresher and cleaner. Hydroxyl radicals are therefore sometimes also referred to as the &#34;detergent of the atmosphere&#34;. The plasma generator in the cube produces a mixture of air and cold atmospheric plasma, in which countless numbers of these highly reactive hydroxyl radicals are formed. They are distributed evenly throughout the room by the built-in fan and natural diffusion and clean the air of viruses, bacteria, and fungal spores with an efficiency of up to 99.99 %. Even if the room is briefly ventilated or a door is opened, the Cubusan continues to work reliably because sufficient hydroxyl radicals are generated on an ongoing basis. A space of at least 3.5 m² should be available per person and the room should continue to be ventilated regularly.One device is sufficient for a 50 m2 or 120 m3 room, while any number of cubes can be installed in larger rooms. Furthermore, the cube is very quiet at 32 dB, consumes less energy than a 25 W light bulb, is odorless and absolutely harmless to health even when operated continuously. It combats viruses and bacteria without chemicals, ozone, or UV-C. As a so-called &#34;plug and play&#34; product, it is also fully maintenance-free and has no lights or filters that need to be replaced. “Thanks to its straightforward operation and high degree of efficiency, our new air purification cube will provide a valuable service anywhere that people congregate in enclosed spaces,” predicts Daniel Steininger. “I&#039;m thinking, for example, of meeting and seminar rooms, classrooms or waiting rooms, as well as stores, restaurants, and recreation rooms in senior citizens&#039; and care homes. We are convinced that we can make an important contribution to reduced infection rates in these places with the Cubusan.”This approach is also advocated in the position paper of the Association for Aerosol Research in Cologne (<a href="https://www.info.gaef.de/positionspapier">https://www.info.gaef.de/positionspapier</a>). The novel SARS-CoV-2 virus and its mutations are also included in the efficacy spectrum.

For over 30 years, WINTERSTEIGER has had a strong and reliable partner in Norway with &#34;Board &amp; Ski Teknikk AS&#34;, which also looks after the Swedish market. Founder and principal owner Viggo Slang would like to retire in the coming years and leave the business in good hands. WINTERSTEIGER has therefore decided to acquire Board &amp; Ski Teknikk AS, and to service the Norwegian and Swedish markets through the subsidiary &#34;WINTERSTEIGER NC&#34; (Nordic Countries), in the future. “Thanks to Viggo and his powerful team, our initial position in the ski rental and ski service segments in Norway and Sweden is extremely good! We are delighted that all employees are staying on board and will continue to be there for our customers,” explains Daniel Steininger, Head of the Sports business field at WINTERSTEIGER AG. Sales and customer service will still be handled locally, and all logistics services will continue to come directly from Austria. Flexible production line for comfortable winter sports

WINTERSTEIGER, global market leader in ski service machines and ski rental solutions, and Steurer, a leading manufacturer of ski lockers based in Vorarlberg are joining forces. WINTERSTEIGER is set to acquire a 51% shareholding in the newly founded Steurer Trocknungs- und Aufbewahrungssysteme GmbH (STA GmbH). This acquisition is part of WINTERSTEIGERs ongoing strategy to strengthen the company&#039;s position as the leading supplier of turnkey solutions for the winter sports sector.

 

The ski, storage, drying, and locker systems will in future be sold exclusively under the WINTERSTEIGER brand, with the aim of serving its winter sports customers around the world even better, and to be able to provide an integrated all-in-one offering encompassing depot, software, and ski service solutions. Drying and hygiene solutions for work clothing are also part of the product range.

 

The 40 staff employed by Steurer at the site in Altach will continue to be responsible for engineering, production, logistics, and installing at the customer&#039;s premises. The aim is to further increase production capacity and the speed of innovation in order to jointly become the global market leader for storage and drying systems. The management of STA GmbH will be shared by Andreas Seidl, as Managing Partner and Daniel Steininger, Head of the Business Field SPORTS.

 

&#34;Quality ski depot products – that&#039;s what unites Steurer and WINTERSTEIGER. Steurer has been setting standards in technology, design, and quality in ski locker construction for many years. The cooperation with WINTERSTEIGER, which started in 2018, has given us new perspectives on product development, and greater internationalization has enabled us to grow. We were quick to see the positive strategic relevance of this for the positioning of our products in the market. For us, the merger with WINTERSTEIGER was also key to securing the future of the site. With the new opportunities, we will further expand our sales activities in the drying and locker segment worldwide in addition to the ski resort area,&#34; explains Andreas Seidl.
