WINTERSTEIGER AG will be showcasing its successful "ski rental of the future" concept – which was launched back in 2018 – at ISPO 2019 in Munich. The company will also be presenting new ski depot lockers and shop furniture, as well as bootfitting innovations, at the world's largest trade show for sporting goods.

At last year's ISPO, WINTERSTEIGER showcased its rental concept of the future – an innovative approach that speeds up the rental process considerably with the help of digitization and intelligent use of data. Since then the concept has become a reality and has been successfully installed at the first sports retailers. Daniel Steininger, Head of Sales SPORTS at WINTERSTEIGER, explains: “The aim is for the skier to leave the shop satisfied, relaxed, and above all, in next to no time. We combine software and technology to make renting skis and ski equipment quicker and more convenient.”

Clever and efficient: Easyrent, Sizefit, & Co.

The rental concept of the future consists of several components that are linked to the Easyrent rental software. For example, the Easygate software module guides the customer through the rental process on strategically placed screens, while the Vandra 3D foot scanner from BOOTDOC provides all the relevant data to select the right ski boots. The electromechanical sole, Sizefit, transfers the sole length of the ski boot precisely to the binding, so that the customer no longer has to take their boot off. Not only is this convenient for skiers and sports retailers alike, but it also saves them time, as boots can be selected with greater accuracy and the customer no longer needs to take off their ski boots for the bindings to be adjusted. Sizefit Caliper is another component of the rental concept. This measures the ski boots and sends the data to Easyrent. For rental goods, this takes place before the season begins and, if customers wear their own ski boots, at the binding adjustment desk itself.

WINTERSTEIGER is constantly developing the rental process to be even better – one new feature being the "Body Scanner". This device measures a customer's height and weight at the same time and analyzes their foot with the integrated Vandra 3D scanner. The data are transferred via Easyrent and are ready for use at the ski boot issue counter and binding adjustment desk.

Another practical tool is ProGlove's glove scanner used to scan barcodes on rental goods. As it is integrated into a glove, there is no longer any need to pick up and put down a hand-held scanner, leaving both hands free for binding adjustment.

New ski depot solutions in cooperation with Steurer Systems.

Another innovation being presented at ISPO is a line of depots that has been created exclusively for WINTERSTEIGER by Steurer Systems. New design aside, the storage and drying lockers offer flexible drying functions and come with different doors, surfaces, and materials. This enables the depot systems to be tailored to the customer's requirements. Steurer Systems from Vorarlberg has over 60 years of experience and is an innovation and market leader in ski depot systems.

The Easystore shop furniture has also been redesigned, this time in cooperation with Umdasch, an expert in shop design. Timeless, minimalistic shapes that fit any shop concept are key features of the new look.

BOOTDOC innovations bring automation and creativity.

BOOTDOC: Autofit and Socks DesignerBOOTDOC novelties: the automatic insole fitting system Autofit and the Sock Designer

WINTERSTEIGER sells bootfitting products for end consumers under the BOOTDOC brand. These range from innovative foot analysis methods, through foam liners, insoles, and Power Fit socks, to Heat Socks. BOOTDOC's new Autofit device automatically adapts insoles for sneakers. The customer sits comfortably at the Autofit station and, in a matter of minutes, the insoles are shaped automatically. Automation has simplified the process so much that even staff with less training can take over if the bootfitting experts are not available at the time.

Unique: Power Fit Socks in a custom design.

Creativity is key for the new BOOTDOC Sock Designer – The sports retailer can customize their Power Fit Socks with a logo, slogan, and photos – the possibilities are simply endless! Both winter and summer styles can be created with the Sock Designer.
